TRANSFORMING THE WORLD OF SOLID COSMETICS

Freshly Cosmetics wanted to develop a sustainable response to tackle the inexhaustible use of plastic in the cosmetics world. Working together with its R&D team and materials specialists monomer tech, we created F SolidPod, a revolutionary ergonomic, functional and sustainable applicator made from recycled elements and with an extended use of more than 10 years.

➀ REDEFINING THE PARADIGM

How to generate a sustainable alternative to the so common use of disposable plastic containers in the cosmetics world? How to improve the user’s experience of traditional soap and shampoo bars? Following these premises, we started working on the creation of an ergonomic, sustainable and easy-to-transport container.

➁ A SIMPLE AND FUNCTIONAL SOLUTION

Through an intelligent, sustainable solution as simple as functional, we designed an applicator that recovers the use of traditional solid gel shampoo bars but solves the problems and limitations that these products presented in the past.

Its ergonomic shape and fine aesthetics meets the needs of all types of users, it is easy to transport and adaptable to all routines and contexts.

➂ FULL-WIN DESIGN

Its practical and portable shape includes a plunger system that properly holds the bar, offering a more hygienic product that does not stick and made from materials that wouldn’t foment bacteria growth. By collecting the soap leftovers and reintroducing them again, the applicator allows 100% of the product to be used while extending its life cycle.

➃ A SUSTAINABLE RESPONSE

Running an estimated usable life of up to 10 years, the innovative applicator weight is only 45 grams, contains 33% recycled plastic and 18% wood chips. Its functional design also helps to reduce the use of plastics in traditional packaging; saving on weight and volume when it comes to storage and transport.

“OUR DESIGN INCORPORATES SOME OF THE MOST IMPORTANT PRINCIPLES OF THE CIRCULAR ECONOMY: IT REUSES RECYCLED MATERIAL LIKELY TO BE RECYCLED AGAIN AND IS HIGHLY SUSTAINABLE THANKS TO ITS DURABILITY AND EXTENDED USE OVER THE YEARS; THUS, MINIMISING WASTE AND EXTRACTION AND CREATION OF VIRGIN MATERIALS”.

-PEPE GARCÍA, FOUNDER AND CREATIVE DIRECTOR CULDESAC

“F SOLIDPOD IS A FANTASTIC EXAMPLE OF SUSTAINABLE YET HIGHLY ACCESSIBLE DESIGN. THE FORM NOT ONLY PROTECTS THE PRODUCT BUT EFFECTIVELY BECOMES PART OF IT. THIS INNOVATION HAS THE POTENTIAL TO DISRUPT A SECTOR THAT RELIES HEAVILY ON SINGLE-USE PLASTICS”.
